Small 4to. Black cloth spine and grey paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. 343pp. Very good/fine. Book would rate "Near fine" but for corner-clipped front flyleaf (likely to remove ownership signature). A tight and handsome first edition of this writer's acclaimed first novel concerning three Native American women and set in the Pacific Northwest. Signed nicely in black ballpoint on the half-title page. Dorris (1945-97), National Book Critics Circle winner for the nonfiction "The Broken Cord" (1989) and former husband of writer Louise Erdrich, committed suicide in the face of child abuse allegations.
