"Yerushalayim Ha-Benuyah" ("The Rebuilt Jerusalem: a Daydream") is a Utopian novel written by the Russian-Jewish artist and founder of the "Bezalel" (Betzalel) school of art, Boris Schatz. The novel, which was printed in a single edition and distributed in close circulation, depicts the author's visit to Jerusalem in the year 2018, where he discovers a Jewish city built upon the precepts of Zionism, Judaism and Socialism. The title page marks this book as volume I; no other volumes were ever printed. The book features title page illustrated by Ze'ev Raban (1890-1970) - a leading painter, decorative artist, and industrial designer of the Bezalel school style, one of the founders of the Israeli art World. Includes a short dictionary of foreign words and technical terms. 230x170mm. 194 pages. Illustrate board Hardcover with grey cloth spine. Cover and spine yellowing and stained. Cover corners and edges slightly bumped. Front cover upper edge partly peeling. Spine edges slightly creased. Pages 165-170 creased. Binding slightly visible between the illustrated pre-title page and title-page. Pages yellowing.
