Stamps on first few pages that read, "Property of U.S. Navy, Bureau of Navigation," and "U.S.S. Tulsa." Front jacket flap is affixed to front pastedown page. Author Lehmann was the most senior officer on board the Hindenburg when it caught fire in Lakehurst, New Jersey, in 1937. He was fatally burned and died the following day. The final chapter of the book, and the book's preface, was written by Charles E. Rosendahl, a Vice Admiral in the United States Navy, and an advocate of lighter-than-air flight.
