Black boards with gilt titles and burgundy topstain. and deckled edges. Spine is creased and corners are lightly bumped. Gilt on spine is somewhat faded. Minor shelf/edge wear and soiling. 2nd fep is torn out. All interior pages are clean and intact with some age-toning. Bookstore stamp from John King in Detroit on ffep. Moderate foxing is evident on front and back endpapers. No DJ- as issued. In 1909 Count Zeppelin founded the world's first airline, the Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft (German Airship Travel Corporation). Thereafter, Zeppelins were used in thousands of war flights during the first World War. This text vividly recounts the experiences of a naval architect who joined Count Zeppelin?s staff in 1913 and captained Zeppelins both before and during the war. In addition to the personal accounts of other Zeppelin commanders, official records of the Allied Governments and Germany were examined to ensure accuracy.
