This fascinating reference covers centuries of Chinese cartography. It includes 205 color plates showing the evolution of the intricate, elegant, and distinctive Chinese style of mapmaking. The text appears in both Chinese and English. Published by the Cultural Relics Publishing House in Beijing. Hardbound in brick-colored cloth with gilt lettering and a dust jacket. 119 pp. 14.2" W x 10.6" H 1990 An Atlas of Ancient Maps in China came off the press in three volumes in chronological order. This volume contains maps made between the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) and the Yuan Dynasty (1280-1368); the second volume includes maps drawn in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644); and the third volume deals with maps of the early and middle Qing Dynasty (1644-1840). This volume covers a total of 205 maps falling into 60 categories, with 17 maps in two categories of the Warring States Period.
