About this title

Drawing on her private diaries, Vera Zorina charts her rise to international stardom--working in the Ballet Russe, her London debut, Broadway productions, Hollywood experiences, and meetings with Marlene Dietrich, Serge Lifar, Orson Welles, Igor Stravinsky, Erich Maria Remarque, and Eleonora Sears

From Library Journal:

Eva Brigitta Hartwig grew up to become Vera Zorina, star of stage and screen. Born in Germany in 1917, she received her early ballet training in Europe. After two years with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and a wrenching love affair with Leonide Massine, she appeared in the London version of On Your Toes and her career took a turn. In subsequent years she appeared in Broadway musicals (e.g., I Married an Angel) and movies (e.g., On Your Toes , I Was an Adventuress). She worked with George Balanchine and was his wife from 1938 to 1946. Zorina's memoirs are enthusiastically written with a touch of regret as she reflects on the paths not taken. Zorina married again and has since narrated oratorios, directed opera, and produced records, but her autobiography abruptly stops with her divorce from Balanchine.
