In 1713, Aaron Hill (1685-1750) had obtained a patent for extracting oil from the fruit of the Beech tree (Fagus). In this pamphlet he tries to raise funds by selling shares of his company with a grandiose scheme of making the oil to supply soap and clothing manufacturers throughout the world, promising wealth and the glory of the nation.
