Among a few of the numerous authors cited are Aldus Manutius, Agricola, Fabricius, Fallopius, Fuchs, Eustachius, Spigelius, Tagliacozzi, and Vesalius.Rode (1587-1659), a Danish physician, studied at Marburg and Padua, where he was ultimately appointed professor of botany and director of the botanical gardens.
