First edition, one of 12,550 copies printed. An Allan Quartermain novel, and a direct sequel to "The Ivory Child." There are 8 full-page engravings by Albert Morrow, including the frontispiece, and a small illustration of a cylinder seal impression on verso of "List of Illustrations." The seal, known as "The Little White Seal of the King of the East," plays an important part in this story. According to Scott, this little artifact was given to the author by a friend and used to hang from his watch-chain. With list of 54 Haggard books on verso of half-title. 8vo.
