Watermark: Arms of France Description: From the series "Tis al verwart gaeren", published in 1638. Ref: Hollstein 16.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Pieter Nolpe' after 'Pieter Quast'. Pieter Nolpe (ca. 1613-ca. 1653) was active in Amsterdam as printmaker/publisher. He often worked from his own designs, based on historical subjects, portraits, landscapes and perspectives. Despite his large output of prints little is known about him. Pieter Jansz. Quast (1606-ca. 1647) was active as painter and etcher in the Hague. He specialised in genre scenes. Condition: Good, given age. Small margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
