His engravings often depicted religious and allegorical scenes, and he worked after designs by prominent artists such as Gerard Seghers. Van den Hoeye was active in the mid-17th century, and his works are noted for their technical skill and emotional depth.Biography artist: Gerard Seghers (1591-1651) was a Flemish painter and one of the leading figures in the Antwerp school of Baroque painting. He was known for his religious and genre paintings, which often featured dramatic lighting and intense emotional expression. Seghers was influenced by Caravaggio and worked extensively in Flanders and Spain. His works were highly sought after, and he collaborated with engravers to reproduce his designs in print form. Condition: good, given age. Light soiling and creasing. With tears at top right and middle, left middle and bottom right. Small hole at bottom right.
