Antique print, titled: 'Depart pour la Chasse' - ('The departure for the Hunt'). A busy scene in front of a manor with numerous figures with horses, falcons and dogs. Engraving / etching on hand laid paper. Description: "Galerie du Palais Royal .", Paris: J. Couche & J. Bouilliard, [n.d., 1786-1808]. This series of plates depict the collection of the Royal Palace in Paris. Each plate is set in a decorative border and accompanied by a descriptive text (by l'Abbe de Fontenal), describing the artist and painting. The author Jacques Couche (1759-1836), was a French engraver, student of Levasseur.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Francois Dequevauviller' after 'Philips Wouwerman'. Francois Dequevauviller (1745 - ca. 1807) was a French engraver of mainly landscapes and marine scenes. Philips Wouwerman (1619-1668) was a Dutch painter of landscapes, hunting and battle scenes. Condition: Very good, given age. Margin edges uneven as issued. Two original pinholes from binding in left margin. Small stains in print and margin.
