Description: This original antique print is taken from 'Histoire des Voyages.', by Prevost ca. 1750. Engraving by Jan van Schley.Artists and Engravers: Jan van Schley, Dutch engraver. Johan Nieuhoff (1618 - 1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. The most famous of these was a trip of 2,400 km from Canton to Peking in 1655-1657, which enabled him to become an authoritative Western writer on China. Condition: Fine. General age related toning. Remains of fungal staining in corners, not affecting image. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: A199-20 The overall size is ca. 6.4 x 9.2 inch. The image size is ca. 5.5 x 7.9 inch.
