This scarse old antique print and incunabel sheet originates from: 'Die excellente Cronike van Vlaenderen .', (transl.: Cronicles / History of Flanders, Belgium) by Roelant de Doppere, published by Willem Vorsterman in Antwerp, 1531. This work has splendit woodcut illustrations. Individual prints from this scarse work are rarely offered. Woodcut on hand laid paper. Watermark: High crown Bibl. Belgica ascribes the main work to Roelant de Doppere and Antoine de Roovere. The author of the second part is still unknown. The publisher of the work: Willem Vorsterman (Flemish 1504-1540 or 1543) was one of the leading and most productive publishers / printers of his time. He published over 200 works in the period 1524-1540. This work is one of his most popular works. The woodcuts in this work were partly assembled from the publishers inventory and partly made for this work by unknown artists. Fair, given age. Ample margins, some waterstaining, surface soiling and loss of printed tekst in lower part. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
