Antique print, titled: 'La Pierre au jardin des Oliviers' - The Prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives. Christ kneels in prayer to the right, while two of his disciples are sleeping and the two others discuss. Engraving / etching on hand laid paper. Description: "Galerie du Palais Royal .", Paris: J. Couche & J. Bouilliard, [n.d., 1786-1808]. This series of plates depict the collection of the Royal Palace in Paris. Each plate is set in a decorative border and accompanied by a descriptive text (by l'Abbe de Fontenal), describing the artist and painting. The author Jacques Couche (1759-1836), was a French engraver, student of Levasseur. Ref: IconClass 73D312.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Antoine Romanet' after 'Michel Ange Buonarotti'.
