A Spanish military company commander brought before William I of Orange in 1577. Etching / engraving on hand-laid paper. Description: Published by Jan Willem Smit and Willem Vermantel in 1780. Provenance: Collection mark: J.T. in circle (Non-identified; Lugt 1539c)Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Th. Koning' after 'J. Buys'. Theodoor Koning (1748-after 1825) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman. Jacobus Buys (1724-1801) was a Dutch painter and engraver, born in Amsterdam. He studied under C. Pronk, Jacob de Wit and Cornelis Troost. He was also an author on art and teacher at the Amsterdam Academy. Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling. Light creasing.
