Original Tusche-Zeichnung. -- Blatt-Maße: ca. 15 x 8,5 cm. -- gut erhalten. || Original ink drawing. -- in good condition. || Walter Trautschold (1902-1969) war ein deutscher Maler, Zeichner, Karikaturist, Illustrator und Bühnenbildner. Er war der Sohn des Schauspielers und Regisseurs Gustav Trautschold. Seine künstlerische Ausbildung erhielt er an der Staatlichen Kunstgewerbeschule Berlin unter Eduard Suhr. Schon mit Anfang 20 machte sich Trautschold einen Namen als Maler. Später schuf er auch Skulpturen und entwarf Bühnenbilder für das Theater. Als älterer Bruder der Schauspielerin Ilse Trautschold knüpfte Walter Trautschold rasch Kontakte zur Kabarettszene und pflegte engen Kontakt zur berühmten Katakombe". Für diese Kleinkunstbühne arbeitete er als Zeichner und Illustrator und forderte mit seinen Arbeiten die NS-Politik mehrfach heraus. Kurzzeitig war er sogar mit anderen Katakombe-Mitgliedern inhaftiert. Nach dem Krieg lebte Trautschold in der Künstlerkolonie Berlin und belieferte die Große Berliner Kunstausstellung mit seinen Werken. Seit 1946 war er Mitglied im Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Berlins. || Walter Trautschold (1902-1969) was a German painter, draftsman, caricaturist, illustrator and set designer. He was the son of the actor and director Gustav Trautschold. He received his artistic training at the Staatliche Kunstgewerbeschule Berlin under Eduard Suhr. Trautschold made a name for himself as a painter in his early twenties. Later he also created sculptures and designed sets for the theater. As the older brother of the actress Ilse Trautschold, Walter Trautschold quickly made contact with the cabaret scene and maintained close contact with the famous "Katakombe". For this cabaret he worked as a draftsman and illustrator and challenged Nazi politics several times with his work. For a short time he was even imprisoned with other members of the "Katakombe". After the war, Trautschold lived in the Berlin artists' colony and supplied the Great Berlin Art Exhibition with his works.
