Hernando de Soto's expedition in the early 16th century stands as a milestone in the exploration of North America. In 1539, De Soto, accompanied by a substantial expedition, embarked on a journey through the southeastern United States in search of wealth and new territories. The pinnacle of his exploration came in May 1541 when the expedition, becoming the first documented Europeans to do so, discovered and crossed the mighty Mississippi River. This geographical achievement not only expanded European knowledge of the continent but also had far-reaching implications for the encounters between European explorers and indigenous peoples. De Soto's interactions with various Native American tribes along the way, including the Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Quapaw, shaped the complex and often tumultuous history of European exploration and Native American relations in the Americas. The discovery of the Mississippi River marked a crucial moment in the unfolding narrative of cross-cultural encounters and the ongoing exploration of the New World. Published by Johnson Fry & Co. The shipping cost also include all packaging and handling which is done with the utmost care. We use foamcore for added protection. We sometimes use very sturdy tubes to ship the larger prints. There are times when we need to requote shipping as we offer combined shipping charges for multiple items. If you have any questions, emails are welcome. Rest assured we try to get your order to you as quickly as possible.
- Shipping speeds are estimates based on the carriers' delivery times and cannot be guaranteed. Due to the recent pandemic we have found shipping to be a little slower than expected due to shortage of staff. If your order will pass through Customs, please expect a delay.
