Antique Master Print, titled: 'Carolus Leonardi [.].' - Portrait of the physician Carolus Leonardi from Amsterdam. Description: Source unknown, to be determined. Ref: Hollstein 399.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan van de Velde' after 'Pieter Saenredam'. Jan van de Velde (1593-1641) came from the southern Netherlands as a fugitive around 1600 to the Netherlands. His father was a writingmaster and Jan trainend as an etcher. He produced many highly important series of landscape prints. Pieter (Jansz.) Saenredam (1597-1665) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and printmaker. He became best known for his town views and church interiors (in which he proved his mastery of line perspective). Etching on hand laid paper. Watermark: Small French Lily. Anonymous. Good, given age. Small margins, some thin paper spots in corners, backed and a small tear in bottom paper edge, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
