Description: From the "Praunsche's Kabinet", a collection of printdrawings published between 1776 and 1780. State: Only state. Ref: Le Blanc 47-52. These drawings were originally ascribed to Israhel van Meckenem. Verso is the old attribution to "Israel de Mecheln".The original drawings are now kept in the Albertina in Vienna and are described as anonymous after Van Eyck.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Johann Gottlieb Prestel' after 'Jan van Eyck'. Johann Gottlieb Prestel (1742-1808) worked together with his wife Marie Catherine Prestel (1747-1794). They created a fine oeuvre of prints after drawings, for which they were reknowned. Jan van Eyck (1390-1441) was a Flemish-born artist working for the court of the the Duke of Burgundy. He produced an important of works and is credited to be one of the first users of oilpaint. Condition: Very good, given age. No margins, as usual, attached to a contemporary supportsheet General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
