Attractive view onto the town and caste of Spijk on the Linge river, The Netherlands. Etching on hand laid paper. Watermark: D&C Blauw. Description: Published by P. Fouquet in Amsterdam. Probably published as part of a small collection of prints, bound in a wrapper held together by a cord. Numbered #1 and No.3 in manuscript writing.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'P v.d. Schley' after 'J. de Beijer'. Philippus van der Schley (1724-1817) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver from Amsterdam. He was a pupil of his brother Jakob van der Schley. He became a design master and dealer of paintings. Jan de Beijer (1703 - 1780), also given as Jan de Beyer, was a Dutch draughtsman and painter known for this drawings of towns and buildings in the present-day countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In total, he produced some 1500 drawings, over 600 of which were reproduced as engravings by other artists. Condition: Excellent, given age. Small holes in left margin from binding in wrapper. Light soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: A120-21 The overall size is ca. 10.8 x 8.5 inch.
