Original vintage Pan Am travel advertising map poster - South America Continent of Contrasts served by Pan American World Airways and Pan American Grace Airways - featuring a pictorial map by Ayres Houghtelling (1912-2006) with illustrations of tourists and the customs of local people including cooking, fishing, skiing, playing music and dancing; animals and birds including cows, a panther, llama, penguin, sloth, butterfly, seagulls, a dolphin, whale and other fish; modern and traditional buildings; sailing boats at sea along the coast; holiday makers sunbathing on the beaches and swimming in the ocean; the Andes mountains, trees, lakes and a waterfall, with the title text in a decorative border and an image of a plane below. Good condition, restored paper losses in margins, restored large tears through image, minor staining, backed on linen. Size: 37x29cm.
