Allan G. Osborne

Dr. Allan G. Osborne, Jr. is the retired Principal of the Snug Harbor Community School in Quincy, Massachusetts, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. He is a former visiting associate professor at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts where he taught courses in special education law, behavioral interventions, developing individualized education programs, and educational research. He has been an adjunct lecturer in the doctoral program in educational administration at Boston College and graduate special education programs at several other colleges and universities in the Boston area.

A former special education administrator and teacher, Dr. Osborne has 34 years of experience in education. He received his doctorate in educational leadership from Boston College and a master's degree in special education from Fitchburg State College.

Dr. Osborne is a nationally recognized expert on legal and public policy issues in education with a specialty in special education law. In 2008 he was recognized by the Education Law Association with their McGhehey Award for lifetime achievement in recognition of his contributions to the field of school law. He is the author or co-author of over 300 publications including books on school law and special education law, as well as other topics in special education. He also has authored the "Students with Disabilities" chapter of the Yearbook of Education Law published by the Education Law Association since 1990. The author of numerous articles that have appeared in special education and school law journals, Dr. Osborne is a frequent speaker at national conferences for educators, lawyers, professors of school law, and federal judges. He is on the editorial boards of several education and school law journals and is the co-editor of the "Education Law Into Practice" section of the Education Law Reporter. Dr. Osborne is also a past-president of the Education Law Association.

Dr. Osborne currently spends most of his time writing, editing, teaching graduate courses in school law and special education law, speaking at conferences, and presenting workshops on topics in school law. He also volunteers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He was recently honored by the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation with its "Spirit of Hope" award.
