Nathan Jishin Michon (he/they) is a Buddhist priest, Interfaith minister, chaplain, scholar, and meditation teacher. Jishin is currently a visiting scholar at Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan through the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He specializes in contemporary Buddhist chaplaincy research, crisis care, and contemplative care. Jishin previously completed an MA in Comparative Religion at Western Michigan University, MDiv in Buddhist Chaplaincy at University of the West, and a PhD in Cultures and History of Religion at Graduate Theological Union. Jishin completed their Fulbright research at Tohoku University while volunteering with survivors of the 2011 disaster in Northern Japan, and also previously worked with hospice and memory care residents. He has completed numerous lengthy retreats in several countries and enjoys exploring a variety of meditation styles.
