I usually ship within two business days. Most books go out USPS Priority Mail, which includes insurance and tracking. That's for your protection and mine.
Most shipping costs aren't based on weight. The USPS says "If it fits, it ships," regardless of weight.
But if your book order is heavy or oversized, I will contact you to let you know that extra shipping charges apply.
Caution: A Priority Mail 2-Day™ Small Flat Rate Box costs $8.45 these days, and many books need a larger box.
