The work is a historical study of the blockade of Germany at the end of WWI, as it continued after the signing of the armistice, up until the the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The effects on the German population during that time, how it shaped public opinion and public policy, the American effort at relaxation of the blockade and ultimately the establishment of the Weimar Republic are discussed. This story is told through effective use of primary sources from the time including, "various minutes, documents, manuscripts, correspondence and newspaper articles and editorials" arranged in a chronological order, "under the three divisions of Blockade, Censorship, and Public Opinion." Binding with light scratches and smudging to front, back cover and spine. Interior with minor small stains to half-title, back free endpapers and interior back cover.
