Rare Edgar Allan Poe Book Fetches Just Shy of $700K at Auction

The aforementioned rare Edgar Allan Poe book called Tamerlane put up for auction at Christie’s auction house in New York yesterday ended up going for $696,000. That’s a lot of money, and over two and a half times the amount of the previous record price for American literature. The previous amount was $250,000, and was for a copy of the same book, nearly 20 years ago.
