Gambling on Barack Obama’s books?

Scotland’s Sunday Herald has this item where Jamie Byng, the British publisher who runs Canongate Books, is hailed as entrepreneur of the year for daring to buy the UK rights to Barack Obama’s books.

It was hardly a gamble. Obama has been talked about as America’s first black president since the 2004 Democratic Convention where he made the barnstorming keynote speech. Of course, the Brits would want to read about him – has there been anyone more interesting in politics over the past three years? And don’t even think about mentioning Sarah Palin….
