Hunter S. Thompson’s Face on the US $100 Bill
Before Hunter S. Thompson died in 2005, the eccentric author and father of gonzo journalism could never have imagined his face would end up adorning the United States $100 bill.
That’s because it never will, of course. Thompson was a wildly erratic, unpredictable and often extremely inappropriate individual who refused to bow to convention and was known for being found at the center of many a controversy.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t imagine. With the Bank of England’s recent announcement that 2017 will see Jane Austen’s face gracing their £10 note, we couldn’t help thinking of what other authors we’d love to see staring up at us from our wallets. Thompson was just one design we dreamed up – have a look at our selection of authors on money.
