First Edition
Decorated Cloth. Condition: Good. Crane, Walter (illustrator). First Edition. Folio. xiii + 148 pp., and numerous plates, many in color, of Crane's wondrous oeuvre. This includes not just book and children's book illustration for which he is very much still celebrated, but also wallpaper design, other decorative arts designs, and traditional graphic arts such as paintings. Without a doubt the greatest study of Crane's work to this day, and also the best anthology of his work in a single volume. Front hinge broken. Considerable amount of soilage to blue decorated cloth boards and spine. Fraying of threads along joints. Rear joint has minor starting at top. Still, gilt decoratiion of Greek goddesses and crane on front, crane and pallettes on back reasonably bright. Some minor occasional soilage to text pages, but overall, interior clean, making this a good copy overall, with an exterior that is fair.
