Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 160 pages with frontispiece, plates and illustrations by Peter Parnall. Octavo (8" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's blue cloth with silver lettering to spine and silver pictorial eagle to cover in original pictorial jacket. Fourth printing. The book details the story of Ed Durden, who raised and filmed a golden eagle, named Lady, for 16 years. In 1975, a documentary film based on the book was released in movie theaters across the country. In 1955 Ed Durden got a grant from the Fish and Wildlife Department to capture a golden eaglet to film and study for educational purposes. A close bond developed between Ed and Lady. There were many incidents that showed the strong smarts and personality of Lady. For example: after one incident when Kent held her down while they had to trim her claws, Lady never liked him again and would dive on him whenever she was out flying free and Kent showed up. Ed found this endlessly amusing and loved getting a good shot of Lady diving while Kent ran for cover. Condition: Copyright date circled. San Francisco, CA: Two Lines Press, 2018, 1st printing number line starting with 1, 94pp., . "Where once was a beautiful wood now stands a desolate field smothered in ash and garbage, and here a young man named Waller has terrorizing encounters with grotesque figures named "the garbagemen." As Waller becomes fascinated with these desperate men who eke out a survival by rooting through their nation's waste, he imagines they are also digging through its past as their government erases its history and walls itself off from the outside world. One of celebrated East German author Wolfgang Hilbig's most accessible and resonant works, The Tidings of the Trees is about the politics that rip us apart, the stories we tell for survival, and the absolute importance of words to nations and people. Featuring some of Hilbig's most striking, poetic, and powerful images, this flawless novella perfectly balances politics and literature.". ISBN 9781931883726 3.80.
