Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Academic Paper from the year 2018 in the subject Didactics - English - Pedagogy, Literature Studies, grade: A+, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dialoguing Borders: Vital Issues In Humanities, Commerce, IT and Management (International Conference)), language: English, abstract: In the recent decades, English has become an indispensable part of the Yemeni primary and secondary school curriculum. It is not only a matter of being a compulsory subject within the school curriculum but it is also an area of study that many students/ pupils want to develop. Many Yemeni parents have recently recognized the importance of English as a key to science, technology and business in our modern world and want their children to get mastery over English. Unfortunately, though its recognized importance by teachers, schoolmasters, students and parents, the outcomes, especially within the rural Yemeni context, are still low and most students can't cultivate a good level of English during their pre-tertiary education due to many challenges that obstruct English language teaching in the Yemeni schools. This study was an attempt to survey challenges of English language teaching in AL-Dhalea primary and secondary schools from the viewpoints of 20 EFL senior teachers and supervisors for the purpose of identifying such challenges and suggesting some solutions and strategies for better English language teaching. Findings show that large classes, lack of teaching aids, teachers' low proficiency in English and their limited experience with communicative language teaching are considered as major challenges of English language teaching in the concerned Yemeni primary and secondary schools.

The goal is to reach some suggestions and solutions that may help in changing the current situation and enabling the concerned EFL programs to produce proficient speakers of English. The data were collected through varied instruments, namely students¿ questionnaire (n = 120), teachers¿ questionnaire (n = 23), students¿ interviews (n = 30), speaking skill teachers¿ interviews (n = 4), students¿ spoken communication proficiency assessment rubric (n = 42), classroom observations (n = 6), and an assessment of speaking skill syllabi. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS 21st version and manually. The results revealed that the majority of students encounter fluency and automaticity related difficulties and lack of communication strategies. Moreover, some students also share one or more difficulties with these two major ones, such as phonological difficulties, comprehension difficulties, sociocultural difficulties, lack of discourse knowledge, affective difficulties, and lexical and grammatical difficulties, respectively. Though most students seem to have mastered a somehow sufficient level of grammar and vocabulary, many of them cannot put their lexical and grammatical knowledge into use orally. 304 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Exudate of an Arabian shrub 'Myrrh' (Commiphora myrrha L.) has been traditionally used for curing a wide range of ailments in Arab-African region. This study attempted assessing in-vitro efficacy of myrrh against airborne fungi and some bacteria. Extract of myrrh in methanol, ethanol, boiling water, and normal was tested under in-vitro conditions against 20 airborne fungi and 10 pathogenic bacteria. Extracts in methanol and ethanol showed greater efficacy against fungi as compared to extracts in boiling and normal water. Variable levels of efficacy were recorded against different fungi probably due to genotypic specificity to diverse molecules in different extracts. Optimal concentration of myrrh was found to be 15% (w/v). Interestingly, myrrh extracts showed no efficacy against bacteria. GC-MS analysis of myrrh extracts in alcohols revealed a total of 14 molecules, 11 of which are being reported for the first time. It is expected that this study will benefit students and researchers interested in microbial susceptibility, pharmacognocy, pharmrobacology, and ethinobotany. 116 pp. Englisch.
