Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: poor jkt. First Edition. 11 inches, 198 pages, illustration throughout, patterns, glossary of 19th century terms, bibliography, index, brown cloth over boards with gilt titles, illustrated jacket. Extremities lightly worn, page edges and endpapers faintly foxed, scattered stains on front free endpaper, contents near fine; jacket scuffed, scratched, edges worn and chipped, spine faded, closed tears. Brick and mortar bookshop since 1975!.
Soft cover. Condition: Fair. Self-published. 1978. Large format, staple-bound. The upper edge of the book, descending down about 2 inches, has likely been exposed to moisture as there is a waviness in that region. However, the functioning and reading of the book has not been compromised, and other than a slightly darkened area to the upper back cover, their are no stains. Book otherwise is clean, with a strong spine and binding, no page folds, no tears, and no writing. The signature of the author appears on th title page, but it may be a facsimile - very hard to tell. Terrific detail here, and profusely illustrated with exceptional lifelike drawings from the vintage 'Godey and Peterson Fashion Plates' magazine. All bonnets and hats in the book can be made with the patterns included. 100 pages. Securely packed in a lidded box for protection during shipment.
