In 1939 Chiune Sugihara and his wife Yukiko were sent by the Japanese government to open a consulate in Lithuania. When Nazis invaded Poland, Jewish refugees fled eastward and begged Sugihara for transit visas. Against his government's wishes he complied, saving thousands, and paying a bitter price. 167 pages includes B&W photos and documents. Signed By Translator.
