Dopo una prima esperienza surrealista, Franco Assetto approda alla pittura astratta alla metà degli anni '50.Del 1953 è la "Mostra del Pane", un'esposizione che destò molto scalpore e che precedette di dieci anni la "Pop Art" americana. Artista considerato ed amato dal famoso scopritore di talenti artistici Michel Tapié per i suoi esperimenti che stimolarono il movimento artistico "Baroque Ensembliste" nel 1962. Nel 1968 Assetto entra in un'altra fase affascinato dal movimento e dal suono delle acque. Nelle sue "Sculture d'Acqua" combinando forma, colore, movimento, suono, egli modella l'acqua con sorprendente tecnica. Dal 1971 al 1975 è il periodo denominato "Sculture Murali" in mogano scolpito e materia plastica colorata inventata da Assetto. Nel 1976 passa alle sculture lignee denominate "Nuove Prospettive", dove si incomincia a vedere un ritorno al realismo. Nel 1977 Assetto si trasforma ancora una volta, percependo che questo è il tempo di super realismo e dell'abilità tecnica. Nel 1984 si dedica a creazioni di gioielli e ceramiche e di altre sculture: "The Big Candy". Ha partecipato alla Triennale di Milano (1961). Molte le sue mostre personali a Milano (1950-1958), Parigi (1959), Osaka (1959), New York (1961), Miami Museum (1963), Chicago, Buenos Aires, etc. Sue opere sono presenti nei principali Musei del mondo (Galleria d'arte Moderna di Roma, Museum Modern Art di New York, International Center of Aesthetic Research di Torino, The Panish Art Museum di Southampton, etc ) e collezioni private italiane, americane, giapponesi etc. Edizione originale di 1000 esemplari (Original edition of 1000 copies).
