Half-Morocco. Condition: Fine. Scarce survival of this sole edition, the far less common variant with "Ex-Confederate" in title. Copyright date is 1928 but author portrait is dated 1929. Crown 8vo (192 x 130mm): 16pp, with portrait frontispiece. Original grey paper wrappers lettered in black and bound in later red half morocco over rose-pink cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Book label of Charles B. Sanders, Jr. to rear paste-down. An excellent example with variant title, original wrappers preserved, tightly bound and clean throughout. Worldcat Discovery notes only two copies, both in the United States. Dornbusch II, 3025. Nickleson served in the 28th Missouri Cavalry during the Civil War and saw action at Wilson's Creek, Antioch Church, Fayetteville, Devil's Backbone, Fort Smith, Shiloh, and Franklin.
