Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. Geoffrey Blainey and Geoffrey Hutton have written more than a history of a bank. It is a story that reflects the uncertainties of Australia's colonial past, the wealth of its present, and hints at the possibilities of its future. The book is very good condition EXCEPT for a little shelf rubbing at the top and bottom and the jacket is in very nice condition EXCEPT for minor creasing at the top front.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. Melbourne, Macmillan, 1983 (revised edition)/ 1958. Quarto, xvi, 354 pages plus numerous pages of plates (8 in colour). Papered boards; an excellent copy with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper. Offered together with a copy of the 1958 first edition: Melbourne, National Bank of Australasia; quarto, xvi, 430 pages with 50 plates (7 in colour) plus a front endpaper map; cloth a little sunned; a very good copy with the dustwrapper marked, creased and torn. The first edition is essential reading because the original 1958 edition was 'a long book of 430 pages . I gladly agreed to the suggestion to condense it by about one-fifth and so make room for new chapters [24 to 33, written by Geoffrey Hutton] covering the last quarter of a century. In places I hope the book has been improved, though the detail is sparser' (Blainey's preface to the revised edition). The colour plates have also been revised. [2 items].
