The fourteenth edition of this scarce work; two parts in one volume, in a full tree calf binding with marbled edges.Ink inscription to the verso of the title page, dated 1894.Reading lessons selected, arranged and compiled from various authors for every day by the English author Eliza Fenwick (1767-1840), under the pseudonym of the Revered David Blair. This is the fourteenth edition of this work grouped into four quarterly parts; this volume contains the first and second parts. The first part of this class book contains reading lessons from 1st January until 31st March. The second part of this class book contains lessons from 1st April to 30th June. Reading lessons include subjects such as world history, natural history, and the building of a good character, from authors such as Johnson, Addison and Hume. In a full tree calf binding. Externally smart, with rubbing to the joints and extremities. Gilt to spine remains bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with occasional offsetting. Ink inscription to verso of title page has bled through a little. Very Good Indeed. book.

Leather. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Various [engravings] (illustrator). This copy is bound in a dark brown calf-marbled leather, burgandy leather spine label has gilt lettering. There is very little corner bumping, some edge wear and rubbing of the covers. Head and foot of spine are quite worn. Rubbed spot with slight damage upper back cover, circular {possibly acid caused?}. Owner's mark inked neat upper fep, some shadowing and light foxing of the endpapers. Interior text has quite yellowed with age and has some foxing. Illustrated with 100 engravings on wood. Some light spill marks on a few edges {water?}. Faint pencil calculations on back endpaper. A good copy. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
