Le texte de toutes les sages-femmes de la première moitié du XIXe siècle en France Seconde édition de ce classique de l'obstétrique du début du XIXe siècle écrite par une femme et devenu le manuel de référence pour l'apprentissage de l'obstétrique pour les sage-femmes. Exemplaire, portant comme il se doit, la signature autographe de Marie Anne Victoire Boivin. Marie Anne Victoire Boivin (1773-1841) fut « Maîtresse Sage-Femme, gratifiée de la Médaille d'or du Mérite civil de Prusse» en 1814. Femme éminente, célèbre et reconnue pour ses nombreuses recherches et publications, ce manuel très complet et plusieurs fois réédité fut «placé, par décision ministérielle, au rang des livres classiques à l'usage des Élèves de l'École d'Accouchemens». L'ouvrage lui valut «le diplôme de docteur en médecine honoris causa de l'université de Marbourg». Cette seconde édition est accompagné des Aphorismes de François Mauriceau; ainsi que de ceux d'Orazio Valota, chirurgien du XVIIIe siècle dont les écrits ont également servi de modèles à d'autres manuels d'obstétrique publiés au XIXe siècle. Bon exemplaire en reliure de l'époque portant l'ex-libris imprimé du «Docteur Pellet». Auréole d'humidité dans la marge supérieure, plus au moins prononcée.
