CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: On 21 April 1927, John Borden took his yacht Northern Light to the Arctic on an expedition for the Field Museum of Chicago to collect Kodiak bear and polar bear and other zoological specimens. Borden was joined by his wife Courtney, several friends, and a crew of eight. In December 1928, Mrs. Borden wrote this book, "The Cruise of the Northern Light." about the Arctic trip. It was the first book in which a woman recorded her experiences in the Arctic. Well told and illustrated on this voyage of adventure and hunting, including Alaskan brown bears, polar bears, walrus and seals.
