Seller: ERIC CHAIM KLINE, BOOKSELLER (ABAA ILAB), Santa Monica, CA, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: g. Reprint. Folio. Original illustrated dust-jacket over cream leatherette with dark green lettering on spine. Facsimile reprint of the original edition published in 1701. Portrait of the dedicatee, Charles, Archduke of Austria, by Johann Georg Wolffgang. Title page in red and black lettering. Engraved title-vignette (printer's device) and head-piece. Decorative initials and woodcut tail-pieces. At the beginning of the 18th century, Jesuit Jacobus Boschius published what was probably the largest collection ever put together, almost 4,000 'imprese' described and, to a great extent, illustrated in series of 171 folio plates, each one containing 12 images. The plates were engraved by Wolffgang and Jacob Müller after designs by J.C. Schalck. Some rubbing, and slight creasing along edges of dust-jacket. Upper front corner bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Lower edges of binding rubbed, with moderate abrasion to leatherette. Text in Latin. Dust-jacket in overall good- to good, binding in fair to good-, interior in good+ to very good condition.
