hardcover,12 3/4" x 10 3/4", with dust jacket 120 pages Black cloth-bound boards with whgite type to spine, illustrated half-title pages, photographic portrait as frontispiece, 9 colour plates, 165 monotone reproductions, biographical data, select bibliography, list of reproductions, catalogue of Braque's graphic work. This book's three-colour jacket was designed by Georges Braque, who said "I am trying to ally myself with nature, not to imitate it"; although Dr Hofmann writes in his essay, while Braque's is "a scanty repertory of objects," it is also "rich enough to proclaim the poetry of the still life." In the simplicity and dignity of these graphic works, things are quietly allowed to speak their own language in terms which engage our imaginations and sensibilities. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc. Reinforced front hinge. Firm binding. Packed book weighs 1.75kgs. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
