First Edition
Softcover. Condition: Fine. Bob Oller (illustrator). First Edition, 1st Printing. From the estate of Williamsburg's late chief archaeologist Ivor Noel Hume. A delightful youth's guide to archaeology at Jamestown's with a review on back cover by Ivor Noel Hume. 63 pages. Ivor Noel Hume (1927-2017) is considered the father of historical archaeology in America. He served as the chief archaeologist of Colonial Williamsburg from 1957-1987. He was the author of more than 20 books and innumerable professional articles. Hume was born in London and studied at Framlingham and St. Lawrence Colleges. He served in the British Army during World War II before pursuing a career in archaeology. He came to American in 1957 after nearly 10 years on the staff at the Guildhall Museum in London. Throughout his long career he established the importance of archaeology in describing the social and economic life of those who left behind the artifacts uncovered. In America, Hume is credited with discovering one of the earliest English colonial settlements at Wolstenholme Town. What we know today about the life of the early British colonies in America is because of Hume's tireless efforts to tell the story of it's inhabitants. III-c-5.

Founded by Sol Brodsky, "Cracked," was a deliberate imitator of MAD Magazine. Mad featured Alfred E. Neuman and Cracked featured a simple-minded janitor named Sylvester P. Smythe. A typical issue of Cracked Magazine featured two TV or movie parodies. In the mid-1970?s Cracked expanded into international markets. In 2001 the publication suffered the impact of an anthrax scare. An anonymous letter carrying the powder was sent to American Media, Inc., where one employee was killed. Cracked offices were housed in this same building. They were forced to evacuate the offices and destroy their archives, including their original photographic prints from all issues 1958 through 2000. An attempt to revive the publication was never able to reach fruition. Thanks for looking!.

Wraps. Condition: Good. Bot Roda (illustrator). 116 pages, plus covers. Illustrations (most in color). Cover has some wear and soiling, and a small edge tear at the bottom front. Rick Sutcliffe is on the cover and is the subject of an article entitled "Innings and Intangibles" by Louis Berney. The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team. The Orioles compete as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. As one of the AL's original eight charter franchises when the league was established in 1901, this particular franchise spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis, Missouri to become the St. Louis Browns. After 52 often-beleaguered years in St. Louis, the franchise was purchased in November 1953 by a syndicate of Baltimore business interests led by attorney Clarence Miles and Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. The team's current majority owner is lawyer Peter Angelos. Richard Lee Sutcliffe (born June 21, 1956), nicknamed "The Red Baron" is a former American Major League Baseball pitcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Cardinals between 1976 and 1994. Sutcliffe is currently a broadcaster for ESPN. A right-hander, Sutcliffe was a three-time All-Star. On July 29, 1988 in Philadelphia, Rick achieved one of baseball's rarest feats, especially for a pitcher by stealing home plate during an 8-3 win over the Phillies, in which he also notched the victory. He holds the unique distinction of having won each of the following league awards, once each, and each in a different season: Rookie of the Year (1979), Cy Young Award (1984), ERA leader (1982), and wins leader (1987). After his retirement from baseball, Sutcliffe became a color commentator for the San Diego Padres on Channel 4 San Diego, ESPN (1998-present) and DirecTV/MLB International (since 2010). He also broadcasts the World Series and either the ALCS or NLCS for MLB International, where he is teamed with Gary Thorne. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.

S.I.R. was an extremely important homophile organization in the 1960s-70s and "Vector" was the main gay magazine for the Bay Area during those years. The magazine began life as a newsletter in 1964, merely several folded and or stapled sheets with news and calendars. The late Sixties found the magazine concentrating more on local and national news of interest to gay men. The final years saw the magazine turn more to a standard gay men's magazine with photos of young men from around the Bay Area.
