Magazine. 90p., 8.5x11 inches, photos, articles, reviews, interviews, resources, ads, lightly-worn gay entertainment magazine in stapled pictorial wraps. Cover story on Peter Allen. Originally Dance Magazine and the numbering system continued for several issues and then restarted with volume 1, issue 1 so there are some duplicated early numbers. There are two "volume 10" runs in After Dark. The first was in the late 1960s when the magazine changed the title from Dance Magazine to After Dark but retained the volume and issue numbering of Dance. Later the publishers restarted the numbering with volume 1, #1.

Magazine. 88p. including covers 8.5x11 inches, articles, features, reviews, listings, illustrated with b&w photos and ads, lightly-worn, otherwise a very good semi-glossy entertainment magazine in lightly-worn stapled pictorial wraps. Cover story on American Ballet Theatre, Factory Brothers (the Dallesandros) David Lean, etc. This issue continues the mistaken volume number from issue #7. Likely they meant vol. 3 as by January 1971 the numbering was vol. 3, #9. The numbering of the volumes is illogical in the beginning years up to about 1971. "After Dark" was originally "Ballroom Dance Magazine" which ended with its volume 9, #4. The new magazine's first issue continued the numbering of the previous magazine and so issue #1 is stated as volume 10, #1. By the third year of the magazine they changed the numbering from volume 13 to volume 3, #9. A fine magazine of arts, stage, dance and music that bridged the gap between gay and straight readers in the 1970s-80s.

Structurally a very nice copy, but not quite clean; half-title and title pages are touched with (we think) food residue where a browser turned leaves with sticky fingers. Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Cadmus, Paul (cover) (illustrator). Brooklyn: Hanging Loose, 1985. No edition stated (1985). An unusual copy that has been edited and annotated in the hand of POET/WRITER DONALD W. BAKER. Also laid in is a photocopy of the one-page review done by Baker in Burrelle's, December 1986. Baker writes: "He [Ratti] is a poet exploring, without dogma or narrow passion, his past, his world, and himself and discovering moments of beauty, human connection, and terror. But Ratti's work also comes close, sometimes, to banality, in diffused cadences and inexact diction." Also laid in ms. of review by Baker and correspondence from the publisher to Baker. Very good condition. Signed - Association Copy.

Tipped in reproduction of portrait done for this limited edition of 1200 copies. Originally written in Britain in 1941. "From the poet-writer's standpoint all this prevalent talk about a New Order is a sheer waste of time. There will never be a new order, and there never has been an old one. The phrases are good enough for statesmen, who identify order with orders and creation with regulations, but the poet-writer must be more accurate than that." 14 page, staple-bound.
