Michael Mackintosh Foot (1913-2010), britischer Publizist und Journalist, war Mitglied des linken Flügels und 1980-83 Parteivorsitzender der Labour Party. Er war im Kabinett Wilson zuerst Arbeitsminister bzw. später Minister für parlamentarische Angelegenheiten. Unter den Pseudonymen "Cassius" bzw. "Cato". veröffentlichte er während des Zweiten Weltkriegs vorliegendes und einige andere Bücher. Hier die fiktive Geschichte eines Kriegsverbrecherprozeßes gegen Mussolini. Erschienen im selben Jahr als Mussolini vom Faschistischen Großrat Italiens entlassen und auf Befehl des italienischen Königs verhaftet wurde. Mussolini wurde jedoch von einem spektakulärem deutschen Kommandounternehmen unter SS-Obersturmbannführer Otto Skorzeny aus seiner Haft befreit und errichtete danach im noch verbliebenen deutschen Machtbereich die kurzlebige "Republica Sociale Italiana". 1945 wurde er auf der Flucht nach der Schweiz von italienischen Partisanen zusammen mit seiner Geliebten erschossen.
