Book
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Meissenbach (illustrator). Originally published as a cheap edition in paper wraps in two parts in the mid to late 1800's. These have been bound together at some stage in a library style plain green buckram with gilt title to spine. The original paper covers being discarded in the binding process. Both Part I & II are each embellished with 12 engravings by Meissenbach. In good to very good condition plain green 'library' style buckram (but not ex Library) with some handling marks. End papers clean. A few large brown marks affect the title page of Part I and and continue for the first few pages otherwise the pages are very clean and clear. The pages to Part II may be of a lower grade paper as these are quite faded. Both Parts are printed on thin paper commonly used in cheap paper editions and the text is set in a double column format. I have found only one other example of this edition and that remains in the original paper covers.
