The orange cloth boards have soiling and rubbing to the edges as well as an owner name written to the front dated 1924. The inside pages are without markings. There are some supplementary pages tucked inside with creases. The binding is loose, but all pages are present and connected.

Crack in hinge between front board and text block which exposes binding materials; the rear board is loose from the text block and exposes the spine. Binding is strong and the majority of pages are unmarked, but may have pencil markings or illustrations cut out.

Very light smudges dotting back cover and around title on front cover. Also on the front cover, Pressure Regulation is circled in pencil and +14-- is written in blue crayon above title. First page extends out to provide color illustrations of the insides of the regulator. Contains explanations of the regulating mechanism and different parts of the regulator such as the piston, cylinder, and main valve. Provides instructions on how to test for trouble with the regulator as well as ordering repairs and the installation. Charts on pages 14 and 15 cover several numeric properties of the regulator. 3581 is stamped on the inside of the front cover s upper right hand corner, closer to the binding. Page 16 has Smithsonian Libraries: Sep 13 1983 lightly stamped in the lower left hand corner. All other pages are unmarked and every page is clearly legible.

I is written in pencil and Nov 15 1930 is rubber stamped at the top of the front cover. Back cover is light brown, front is a black and white illustration of a radiator and a radiator valve--likely there were light brown stiff paper wraps glued to the binding, but the front one ripped off. Evidence of this exists close to the binding on the front cover. Binding is secure. Bottom corners show very slight water damage. Pages are otherwise clean and have no stray marks. Catalogue contains black and white illustrations, diagrams, and a table of dimensions for each radiator valve. Specific valves shown include: brass radiator valves, brass self-adjusting packed modulating radiator valves, brass modulating radiator valves, standard and heavy radiator valves, and standard brass radiator gate valves. Illustrations and diagrams attempt to show all angles of valves.

Some water damage, slight smudging, and rips throughout the catalogue. Binding is secure. Red and white sticker in upper left hand corner of front cover with 2 typed on it. Portrays different copper pipes in black and white illustrations, diagrams, and tables with their diameters and measurements. Some words and illustrations on pages 3, 4, and 5 have been ripped (top layer of the page only) or worn off--but most of the words are legible and the majority of the illustrations are whole. The brass compression stops and copper pipes illustrated are used in underground water service and house plumbing supply lines. They are all recommended for 175 pounds per square inch of water working pressure.
