Hardcover. 4to. Dark brown blind-embossed pebble grain cloth with gilt lettering. 246pp. Top edge gilt. Three heavy stock full page illustrations. Very good. Mild edgewear, with deckled page edges a bit age toned as usual. First of this trilogy reprinting George Bancroft's Lincoln speech of 12 February 1866, James G. Blaine's Garfield speech of 27 February 1882 and John Hay's McKinley speech of 27 February 1902. Strangely, there is no title page in this copy (which tells us this was printed in 1903 by the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC), though there's also no evidence of any missing leaf. Variant? MONAGHAN 1402.
