FFL shows gift inscription in neat script, Christmas 1889, along with prior dealers pencilled notations. light rubbing wear to extremities of spine and corners. All nine illustrations ( After Reynolds, Gainsborough Copley, and West ) present and in good condition. Fanny Burney, also known as later Madame d'Arblay, (1752-1840) was an English satirical novelist, diarist and playwright. In 1786 1790 she held an unusual post as "Keeper of the Robes to George III's queen, Charlotte. Wikipedia notes her vivid description of her own mastectomy, which, because it was performed before anesthetics, she was conscious for.
