Hardcover. Unpaginated preliminaries, 172p., illustrated with a single frontis photo (Ralph Bellamy, Shirley Booth), first edition (Scribner "A") hardbound in dark red cloth boards and onlay spine and cover title-labels, lacks the jacket. Ambitious in terms of book design but spine label is as wide as the cloth spine itself and (perhaps not inevitably, but. in this case) with handling the vertical margins have become roughed up to an unsightly extent. Externally also, mild edgewear to boards, dust-soil to top edge. Within, structurally sound, unmarked, and otherwise clean. A good (good-only) copy. Plot concerns an academic family entertaining a young relative from Nazi Germany who is (at twelve years old) a believing fascist.
